Matthew is a UNBC graduate with a bachelor’s degree in commerce majoring in finance and marketing.

As a founding member of MDN Trinity Financial Services Inc., Matthew works tirelessly to implement the team’s vision of being one of the best financial planning firms in British Columbia to ensure the best service for Clients in the North.

Matthew has been working with prospects and Clients for the last 16 years to build holistic and comprehensive financial strategies, helping ensure Clients goals for their future become a reality.

With his QAFP™ designation, Matthew strives to continually learn and apply new strategies to best support Clients in achieving lifetime financial security at the highest standards.

Outside of work, Matthew and his spouse, Kyla, and their two sons enjoy spending time outdoors camping, swimming, hiking and mountain biking.

Stephen came to Sun Life in 2015, with a mandate to build and grow Trinity Financial Services into the firm it is today.

With a personal philosophy to focus on educating prospects and Clients about financial instruments, rules and opportunities, Stephen helps ensure that Clients know where to start or how to engage in financial matters. He does this in a holistic way so Clients become highly engaged and active and realize their own financial goals to help make their dreams a reality.

Stephen enjoys creating “ah ha” moments through logical sequences and overall simplicity. His background as a math and physics teacher helps him communicate complex ideas in simple, engaging ways. The Clients he works with can take control, feel accomplished and make progress toward their future aspirations.

Stephen is a father to three active boys and a husband to his best friend for over 19 years. His family is everything to him and he understands the privilege and the responsibility to plan well for them. He views planning for Clients the very same way.

David has been an advisor since 2016. As a partner of MDN Trinity Financial, David and the team pride themselves on holistic strategies, focusing on the full financial picture instead of only smaller, easily accomplished things.

David envisions the big picture while paying special attention to the tiniest details. With a focus on wealth management, estate planning and preservation, and personal and corporate taxation strategies, David ensures collaborative work with other professionals in the industry as well as other fields to ensure that the Client’s path to financial freedom is as carefully planned as can be.

David’s personal goal is to build lasting relationships with Clients and help give them the tools to make informed decisions. With a passion for what he does, you can often find David in the office early in the morning, late in the evening or on weekends. He makes his calendar work with what is convenient for Clients. David never wants anyone to fail to take advantage of the amazing things that Sun Life offers just because he didn’t take the time to meet with them.

In his spare time you can find David on a golf course, on the ocean, fishing, spending time with his friends and family or quietly trying to motivate himself to go to the gym.

David believes it’s important to find the balance between today and tomorrow, and hopes that he can help Clients find that balance as well.

Michael graduated from UNBC with a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, completing a double major in Finance and General Business. With 7 years in the business, Michael continues his education on an ongoing basis and has obtained his QAFP^® designation from Financial Planning Canada which helps him provide the highest level of support for Clients.

Michael feels that he has a calling in life to help people be the best that they can be, both in and out of the office. With an extensive knowledge and experience in finance, he finds great fulfillment in being able to create holistic financial plans and strategies to help people achieve their goals. Michael’s strengths lie in understanding Clients’ passions, stresses, fears, joys, and hopes; with this, he is great at problem-solving with Clients and developing the right solutions that are tailored to them.

Outside of work, Michael loves spending time with his wife, Emily, and their dog, Marvin. Michael enjoys sports, cooking, playing guitar, and is very passionate about the game of chess. One of his goals outside of the business is to achieve his master-level chess title.

Clientele continually refer to Michael for his support in conveying complex financial concepts in ways that are engageable and easy to understand. Michael believes in providing the absolute highest-level of service, often quoting, “People don’t care what you know until they know that you care”. Michael’s goal is to ensure that each Client knows that he cares about them first and foremost, and the recommendations and advice given are founded on that.

Crystal joined Sun Life and MDN Trinity Financial Services as a service associate in 2017. During that time, she quickly found her passion and career as a financial planner. She was drawn to a world of creating positive change for individuals’ financial future, and the impact that a conversation could have. Crystal prides herself on creating easy to follow and clear solutions that everyone can relate to and understand.

As a dedicated advisor, Crystal is committed to helping individuals, families and businesses like yours to navigate the complex world of finance. Her goal is to provide personalized guidance and advice to help you achieve your financial goals.

With a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance, alongside her QUALIFIED ASSOCIATE FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Crystal has honed her skills over the last seven years and continues to learn and develop to provide Clients with the most cutting-edge services.

When she is not in the office, Crystal enjoys spending time with her husband, Jacob. Together, they love to spend their sunny days on the golf course or camping at their favorite spots in BC with family and friends. They also like to create and cook delicious meals and spend time with their dog, Radar. 

After graduating from UNBC in 2017 with his Bachelors of Commers, Gavin began his career with MDN Trinity Financial Services as a financial planner. Since then, he has loved building financial strategies with Clients and providing peace of mind while working with each Client’s unique situation. Gavin has continued his educated receiving his QUALIFIED ASSOCIATE FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation to provide clients with the highest level of service.

Having a ‘blue-collar’ background, Gavin understands how hard people work for their future. His goal is to educate Clients and provide a tailored financial roadmap that brings confidence.

Gavin supports Clients with a wide variety of Knowledge and support focusing on personal and corporate insurance protection, wealth building strategies and tax planning. His faith and strong family values guide the care and dedication that pours into each person he meets.

When Gavin is away from the office, he loves to spend time with his wife, family and friends. He enjoys being outdoors, snowboarding, biking, fishing, and playing sports.

Kari joined the MDN Trinity Financial Services team in 2017 as a part-time Administrative Assistant. As Trinity continued to expand, Kari’s role expanded with more opportunity to leave the client administration side and focus on the day-to-day business operations. With the transition, Kari and the team have found great joy in her being able to take a portion of the advisors’ plates so that they can focus on their time with the Clients.

Kari brings extensive knowledge and experience to the MDN Trinity Financial team. With history at a remanufacturing mill, Kari began as an inventory clerk, tracking fiber consumption and production, and advanced through a variety of roles including A/P, A/R, payroll, and shipping, making her more than proficient in what she does today.

Kari is a mother to three beautiful, active, teenage boys, and is passionate about her time with family and their well-being. Outside of work, between being the chauffeur and the cook, Kari’s time is easily consumed. She does, however, enjoy fitness whether its at the gym or outdoors.

Brooke joined the MDN Trinity Financial team in 2020, with extensive management and customer service experience.

Over the years, Brooke has developed a passion for the wealth side of the business. Her focus is on managing trades and completing behind-the-scenes operations with precision and efficiency.

Outside of work, Brooke enjoys cooking, spending time on the lake, and caring for her six cats.

Holding a bachelor’s degree in science - biology from UNBC, Kourtney Scott brings her unique background and extensive cultural experience to the Trinity Financial Team.

From teaching English in Japan, to transcribing for research projects and UN Meetings, Kourtney’s strengths lie in organization, communication, and detailed planning.

Kourtney works directly with families and loved ones during the hardest times of their lives. She supports Clients with claims to ensure a seamless process while remaining empathetic, calm, and supportive throughout the whole process. 

Outside of work you will find Kourtney playing games, reading, or working out and spending time with her loved ones including her partner Bob, and her two cats.

With over 10 years experience in the customer service industry Nicolas came to MDN Trinity Financial with the goal of making a more meaningful impact on the people that he interacts with.

Gifted with the skills of problem solving, and communication, Nicolas sees everyday as a learning opportunity and works directly with Clients to ensure they feel understood.

Nicolas strives walk alongside Clients and simplify the complex financial landscape to ensure they feel secure in their decision making and confident in reaching their goals.

Outside of work, Nicolas loves spending time outdoors fishing, hiking, and camping with his fiancé, Acasia. In his spare time, he also plays in a band and teaches guitar.

Rebecka joined the MDN Trinity Financial team after being a Client for many years.

Being referred by an advisor, she was driven to be part of an organization that helps set people up for success and allow them to not feel “stuck”.

With many years of service experience, Rebecka’s strengths lie in communication, relationship building, and creating solutions for Clients.

Outside of work Rebecka loves hiking, being in the sun, reading a good book and volunteering at her church.

Emily joined the MDN Trinity Financial team as Director of Communications bringing her expertise in media relations, content creation, and event planning to enhance and protect the culture developed over the years.

As a seasoned communication professional, Emily specializes in developing and executing strategic communications campaigns and has consistently demonstrated her ability to position organizations in top-tier media outlets and produce engaging content across multiple platforms.

Emily understands the evolving media landscape enabling her to identify and leverage trends effectively. Emily holds a bachelor’s degree in international business and marketing from the University of Northern British Columbia, a certificate in Public Relations from University of the Fraser Valley, and her PRK certification through the Canadian Public Relations Society.

Outside of work, Emily loves spending time and travelling with her husband Michael and their dog Marvin. She also love hiking, pottery, and running.
