How much life insurance is the right amount? Let’s set up some time to discuss the details such as how long you need it and what kind might be right for you. You can walk out feeling more confident and educated on your options.
Script: How much life insurance is the right amount? Simply put, the amount of life insurance you need depends on your unique situation. A good place to start is to figure out how much life insurance you may need… how long you need it for… and what kind might be right for you. Let’s look at an example: Jackie is 33 years old… and has two kids. She has four goals for her life insurance: Leave money to her family to pay off her mortgage. Top up her kids’ registered education savings plans. Pay off her student loans. And, replace her income for 10 years. Based on these goals, Jackie is looking at a 1-million-dollar life insurance policy. If she died, her family could choose to use the insurance payout to: Put 300-thousand dollars toward the mortgage. Add 60-thousand dollars to the kids’ RESPs. Pay off her 40-thousand-dollar student loan. And… cover the family’s ongoing costs with the remaining 600-thousand dollars. How much do life insurance payments cost per month? In Jackie’s case, a 1-million-dollar, 30-year term policy for a non-smoking, 33-year-old woman… could cost about 80-dollars per month. For a man of the same age, it’s closer to 110-dollars per month. How long do you need your coverage to last? For a younger person… or a couple with debt and a mortgage, a 30-year policy or longer may be suitable. For someone in their forties… with little debt and a small mortgage… a 20-year policy might be the right fit. What are your options? Your employer may offer life insurance through your employee benefits. But… it may not be enough. And you can lose that coverage if you change employers. You may want to consider more life insurance. In which case, you have two types to choose from: Term life insurance. And… permanent life insurance. Any amount of life insurance can help give your loved ones some financial security when you die. Your unique situation will inform the amount and type of insurance you need. For more tips and tools, visit sunlife.ca.

Good day!
Adding to the get-to-know-us series, I now introduce Crystal, my other admin assistant. She has been with me almost 6 years and we have worked together for many years now, both here at Sun Life and a former employer.
"I’ve worked on and off with Spencer in the financial industry for almost 20 years, making us a team that can read one another well and know how to balance time, tasks and personality.
Both my husband and I were raised as farm kids in central Alberta. Our daughter was born in the North where we’ve remained since leaving the farm as young adults.
Ask me where my passions lie and you’ll receive tales of a small little dog named Atticus and a beautiful young daughter named Takayla, both of equal place in my world of “how did I get so lucky?”
I also consider it a blessing to be working in this industry with Spencer. Every – single – day, I get to help people help themselves into a better financial tomorrow.
I love the tasks and the people so much that you could almost, almost not pay me and I’d still do it.
Spencer has helped me earmark my own limited budget, giving me confidence in my future, our daughter’s educational future, my vacation dreams, my retirement plans, emergency fund savings, vehicle and home maintenance, health emergencies, senior’s home coverage, life insurance and more. I’m not just saying that because I work here. I’m saying that because the peace of mind he’s brought me and my family has created such joy and calm in my life that simultaneously fuels my enthusiasm for helping others find that same feeling."
Thanks Crystal for all you do and love having you on the team!

Hello followers and clients!
I wanted to take some time to introduce myself and my team so that you can get to know us. I will start with our newest addition to the team. Hope has started just within that last few weeks but already her impact has been felt.
Hi! My name is Hope Craig, I have been recently employed with Sun Life Financial as Spencer Johnston's new Administrative Assistant. I am born and raised here in Grande Prairie. My grandparents have a farm out by Savanna, which is where my lovely parents reside as of two years ago. I still live here in town with my amazing partner and his amazing family! I have a dog named Stella and we clicked the day we met. If you asked me about her, I could talk for hours! I always enjoy spending time with family and friends, but I also enjoy times where I can open a book and enjoy some reading. I am very excited to be working with such an awesome and supportive team! Spencer and Crystal have gone above and beyond to make sure I have felt very welcomed.
Thanks for joining the team Hope and look forward to having you on the team!
