For over 16 years, I have been helping Clients with their financial needs. I am the CEO and Founder of the original HJB Financial Services Inc. which is now SteadyHelm Financial Solutions Inc. Same great team but with a name that reflects our stance on Financial Direction. I’m proud of the team we have become over the past 16 years.

I hold the Certified Health Insurance Specialist and Elder Planning Counselor designations. These designations give me a unique skillset to help the Clients we work with.

When I’m not working, I enjoy lending a helping hand where needed. You’ll often find me hunting, fishing or just spending time in the great outdoors. 

I am a Certified Financial Planner who believes that good financial advice should bring clarity, confidence, and direction to even the most complex situations.

I enjoy working with Clients to take the many moving pieces of their financial lives – investments, retirement, business and farm considerations, insurance, tax, and estate planning – and bring them together into a strategy that is understandable and, most importantly, actionable. My approach is professional but down-to-earth. I take the time to understand what matters to each Client, explain the “why” behind the advice, and help them make informed decisions without unnecessarily complicating the process.

For me, financial planning is ultimately about people. Numbers and strategies matter, but they are tools for helping Clients care for their families, build what they have worked hard for, prepare for the future, and make thoughtful decisions along the way. I value long-term relationships and the opportunity to walk alongside Clients as their lives, businesses, families and priorities evolve.

One of the things I appreciate most about my work is getting to do it alongside my wife, Karina. Sharing both life and work together is something I genuinely treasure and I consider her an important part of both my personal and professional journey.

Outside the office, I enjoy gardening and the satisfaction of watching something grow through patience, care, and a little hard work. I am also actively involved in serving within my church community. Above all, I value time with my family—being present for the everyday moments, watching them grow, and doing my part to help them flourish.

Whether around the family table, in the garden, at church, or sitting across from a Client, I value relationships, thoughtful stewardship, and helping people move forward with purpose.

I have been an advisor with Sun Life for over 30 years, spending my first 8 years in Ontario before moving to Alberta. I have been helping Clients achieve their financial goals since 1993. I provide personalized holistic guidance and investment management services to Clients. I am passionate and dedicated to helping Clients achieve financial freedom and peace of mind. I value exceptional customer service and will offer unwavering commitment to ensuring Client’s success.

I have been part of the financial services industry for over two decades, starting with Sun Life in 2001. My focus is on investments and insurance . I believe in empowering Clients to make informed decisions about their financial future through open communication and financial education. I value integrity and trust, and am committed to staying up to date on the latest industry regulations, best practices and education in order to provide the highest level of service to Clients.

I have been with Sun Life since 2018. In my role as Advisor Assistant, I help keep the day-to-day details organized and ensure Clients receive thoughtful and reliable service through their financial journey. I am committed to staying current with industry changes, improving processes, and finding solutions when challenges arise. I enjoy building relationships with Clients and helping make their experience as smooth as possible. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two children, whether we're out camping together or spending time at the ski hill.

I am an Associate Advisor dedicated to helping you protect your family's future. Before establishing myself with SunLife, I spent years working in Construction, Iron Working, and Logging in the bush. While I have traded in my tool belt for a desk, I promise to bring that same grit to my work- even if my current role involves significantly fewer frostbite warnings. I know firsthand the physical sacrifice, long hours, and relentless dedication it takes to earn a living. This background gives me a distinct perspective on financial security. Instead of just numbers on a page, I view your money as a direct reflection of your hard work, sacrifice, and commitment to your loved ones. As an empathetic person, I am passionate about helping families both young and old as well as business owners to protect themselves against life's unpredictable moments. My primary objective is to translate my understanding of real-world risk into tailored insurance solutions. I aim to give you the ultimate peace of mind, knowing that what you have built is secure.

Beyond my professional life, my world revolves around my family and the great outdoors. Whether I am shed hunting in the late winter and spring, fishing in the summer, or bow hunting in the fall , nature is where I recharge. More than anything, I cherish the time spent passing down these traditions to my children , teaching them our faith, and grounding them in the values of diligence and devotion. I bring these same values to my Client service, partnering with you to protect what matters most, and secure a legacy your family can depend on for generations.

As an associate advisor with over 10 years of experience in financial services, I enjoy simplifying complex financial needs into clear, personalized and actionable strategies. My appreciation for financial literacy drives me to empower Clients, helping them achieve their goals with confidence. My focus is on building trust and lasting relationships through clear communication and tailored solutions. 

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, outdoor adventures and playing ball with my pup. 

In my role, I assist Clients and advisors with administrative tasks. This includes organizing insurance paperwork, managing inquiries, scheduling Clients, prepping advisors for their meetings and monitoring the underwriting process. I enjoy interacting with people and creating a positive experience. Since joining the team in 2020, I have learned a lot and gained a lot of experience.

As a mom, I enjoy watching my daughter train in competitive gymnastics. In my free time, I spend time outdoors in the summer in the backyard, camping, and playing slow pitch. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends. 

As a service associate, I work directly with the advisors to perform a variety of Client services, such as paperwork and scheduling appointments. I enjoy getting to know Clients personally, using my knowledge to help them with all of their insurance and financial questions. 

I have been with SteadyHelm Financial Solutions for 10 years now. 

Outside of the office I spend all my free time with my family. I am currently blessed with my husband, step-son and new twin daughters. Our house seems to be always busy, whether it’s working on our acreage, camping or hanging out with family and friends. 

Hi, my name is Katrina Barendregt and I have been part of this team from the beginning but always in the background working from home. I have enjoyed being part of the growth of the business with the many changes that we have seen in the last 16 years. We have gone through many seasons during this time and now with a new name and updated office, I look forward to what the future holds for SteadyHelm Financial Services Inc.

As an advisor assistant, I support the behind-the-scenes administration for the wealth side of SteadyHelm. I enjoy connecting with Clients, and believe that financial guidance should feel approachable, personal, and built around what matters most to each person who walks through our doors. Outside of the office, I am a wife and mom to 3 kids who enjoys staying active, and spending time embracing the slower pace of country life on our little acreage. Whether I am out for a run, reading a book, or spending time with family, I enjoy the simple things and the people I get to share them with.

As an assistant here at SteadyHelm, my role includes coordinating and preparing for Client meetings and helping ensure each interaction runs smoothly. Through working with Clients, I have come to appreciate just how important financial knowledge and guidance are when it comes to feeling confident about the future. I am proud to play a part in helping people navigate their financial journey and to be a part of a company whose values and approach I truly believe in. Outside of work, I am a proud wife and mom to a little boy. After spending three years in Ontario, I am so happy to be back home in Alberta. Family and friends mean the world to me, and I love spending as much time with them as I can.

I have been with SunLife since 2021 and am responsible for providing administrative assistance to both Clients and advisors. I am committed to learning and improving ways to efficiently communicate within the company, and my goal is to ensure that Clients have a great experience working with us!

In my role as Advisor Assistant, I support Advisors and Clients by assisting with paperwork, coordinating appointments, and helping ensure everything runs smoothly. I am newer to the team, and am enjoying learning new things, taking on new challenges, and continuing to grow in my role.

Outside of work. I am a proud mom to three young children. I enjoy spending time with my husband and family. Life is always busy, and I like staying active, and making the most of every day.
